We are absolutely delighted that Muizenberg beach has once again been awarded Blue Flag status during a ceremony hosted by the National Minister of Tourism, Derek Hanekom in Knysna on 7 October 2014.
Blue Flag status runs from 1 December 2014 to 31 March 2015. This international accreditation is awarded to beaches that display excellence through meeting 33 criteria covering four categories including environmental education and information; water quality; environmental management; safety and services.
Participation in this programme is voluntary and the status indicates that Muizenberg beach is clean, has adequate ablution facilities and parking, are environmentally sound and safe and secure to visit. In addition, Blue Flag status also indicates adherence to international safety and tourism standards.
We thank all City of Cape Town service providers and privately funded services providers for their contributions to ensuring Muizenberg once again hosts this international status!
The Muizenberg Improvement District will continue its partnerships with various City of Cape Town departments, private business and Individuals to ensure our Blue Flag beach status is maintained.
