On 2nd October 2015 at 05:00 the Muizenberg Improvement District (MID) initiated a planned operation with Metrorail, supported by Muizenberg SAPS, Law Enforcement, PRASA and the Muizenberg Community Safety Initiative (MCSI) due to concerns around safety and security inside and around the railway reserve between False Bay and Muizenberg stations.
In attendance we had:
- 2 MID Patrollers & Securitas Operations Manager
- 3 Metrorail/PRASA Officers
- 1 SAPS Captain & Officer
- 1 Law Enforcement Inspector
- 2 Members from the Muizenberg Community Safety Initiative
One person was found on the railway line and the team also engaged with the people living under the railway bridge in Atlantic Road. Concern for theirs and motorists safety were highlighted and the individuals were asked to please move away from under the bridge. They complied.
Various maintenance and high risks spots were identified and we thank Metrorail/PRASA for their enthusiasm in working with us to ensure a safer and more secure railway reserve in Muizenberg.
This Joint Operation is part of MID’s strategic plan for public safety and security. We thank ALL stakeholders for their support and commitment to collaborating on key concerns impacting on public safety and security in the MID area.
